Club News

It is great to be able to announce that our target for funding of the kitchen renovations has been well and truly achieved thanks to the continued generosity of our members and their sheer determination.  The quoted price for the work is $21,000 but we expect there will be some additional costs, such as painting and the replacement of some equipment.  We have now raised $25,000, which means we can not only pay the contractor but also do those little extras which make all the difference.

The contributions have come from the following:

Waikanae Community Board:        $10,000

Proceeds from Sale of firewood:    $5,000

Women’s Committee:                    $3,000

Mid Week Men’s Committee:         $3,000  ($2,000 from kapiti Vets & $1,000 from Snake Fund)

Anonymous Donation:                  $2,000

Melbourne Cup Day:                     $2,000 (estimated)

Only today one of our members made a further anonymous donation of $50.  Congratulations to all who have made this project possible. Work on the kitchen has already started and various methods of feeding and ‘watering’ members during this period of disruption have been successfully employed thanks to Jill Bolland, Liz Cavies, Veronica Ronberg and Betsyn Quin.
