Waikanae Golf Club

Evania’s last day as our caterer will be Thursday 13 August.  She has been with the club for several years and is well known to members as invariably friendly and helpful.  We thank her for her services to the club and wish her well for the future.  The Board is currently receiving expressions of interest from potential successors and expects to begin interviews next week.

Thanks to the generosity of members, funding for the renovations to the kitchen is now secured.  (Details of the breakdown of the various donations will be made known soon.)

As a result, work will begin almost as soon as Evania leaves, ie Monday 17 August.  The contract has been let to Kitchen Creators.  While this work is being carried out, the kitchen will be out of commission.  No food will be able to be prepared on site and no dishes able to be washed.  The contractor believes this will be the case for about 2 weeks.

Members who wish to avail themselves of food and a hot drink during this period will have to bring their own or do without.  Despite the very real logistical obstacles, the Board, however, is interested in entertaining other options, such as barbecued food or food being brought in, provided it has been prepared in accordance with health and safety requirements. (Please contact Marg or Grahame Bilby with your bright ideas.)  We will keep you informed of any developments in this regard and apolgise for the obvious inconvenience this will cause but we trust it wll be outweighed by the prospect of a new kitchen which the club can be proud of.
