Weekend Men
Congratulations to Steve Smith who won the Professor Turf Monthly Medal for May. Steve shot a nett 70 and won it by count-back from Ed Isaac.
Ed also features next Sunday, partnering Gary Coutts and taking on Phil Carthew and Peter Knight in the final of the pair’s matchplay.
Ed’s consistency will give free rein to the big -hitting Gary to play ultra aggressive, while Peter Knight’s matchplay game will have sharply benefited from playing interclub this season. And, of course, the opposition can never relax with Phil’s stellar short game. Should be interesting…

Latest results from our Evergreens team at Kapiti GC on 27th April. Although the greens were “interesting” and the fairways and rough not up to Waikanae’s standards the team did well.
Results ; – with wins by Roy South, Graeme Wallis, Bill Ricketts, Doug Stevens and Kevin Win and Jim Lynch once again making a par at the last, for a half this time (to maintain his unbeaten record) providing the “base core”. Then the Pairs wins from Roy and Jim, Bill and Terry Jones, Doug and Kevin Woodley, Kevin and Peter Cresswell and a fine half by Graeme and John Plimmer meant that the team had a very good 10 to 5 win. Another “highlight” was that though Graeme’s opposition had two birdies Graeme still won! A great contribution by everyone – well done team.
Best stableford points: Doug Stevens being our best with 36 points and Bill and Terry following with 33.

John Peters won 15 balls as the only two’er in the shop twos competition.

Novelty prizes for the day were as follows: No 9 hole nearest pin 3rd shot, Oliver Son; No14 nearest pin, Barry Wilkinson; No 16 nearest pin 2nd shot Jimmy Joe; No 13 nearest 1st cone, Chew Kwan; nearest 2nd cone, Graeme McGregor; 3rd cone, Andy Johnson.
