Midweek Men

53 MWM turned up to park on the grass and hope that the imminent frost didn’t arrive. Luckily there was no frost but it remained quite cold all day. The competition was Americas Cup Foursomes with a random draw from Dotgolf.  Unfortunately the card printing facility did not yield to our efforts so it was back to old time scoring and results production.

Today’s winners were John Murphy & Andy Provan with a net score of 69. Close behind were Miles Davidson & Oliver Son on net 70.  The cut off score for table prizes was 77 net.

Midweek Men

Round 4 of the MWM Winter Challenge was a total contrast to round 1 with a beautiful sunny day presenting itself. A field of 53 competed in a stableford competition. Rounds 2 & 3 were cancelled because of bad weather.

Today’s winner was Roy Leitch with an amazing 45 points followed by John Plimmer on 41 points.  The cut off score for table prizes was 33 points. The new leader in the MWM Winter Challenge is Kevin Win on 37 WC points followed by John Plimmer on 31. The results sheet so far is linked to this notice (PDF). Remember that 20 WC points are awarded to the days winner, 19 to second and so on. Some trickiness arises for people tied for last or 2^nd etc.

Novelty prizes for the day were as follows: No 9 hole nearest pin 3^rd shot, Don Erskin; No14 nearest pin, Ed Isaac & Barry Prince; No 16 nearest pin 2^nd shot Tony Parrett. Cones no prizes because taken in early by mistake. Would be prizes allocated by raffle machine.

Midweek Men

Today we held the long delayed Stableford competition for the Simms trophy (70 to 79 year olds) and the Osboldstone trophy (80 and over). The youngsters amongst us just competed in a standard day stableford. The overall field was 56 with 25 entered in the Simms and 8 in the Osboldstone.

Today’s winner of the Simms event and overall winner for the day was Peter Fairfield with 43 points. The winner of the Osboldstone was John Peters with 38 points.  Gordon Hall, one of the youngsters was today’s runner up on 40 points. The cut off score for table prizes was 32 points.

Novelty prizes for the day were as follows: No 9 hole nearest pin 3^rd shot, John Plimmer; No14 nearest pin, Ed Isaac; No 16 nearest pin 2^nd shot Mike Rodgers; No 13 nearest 1^st cone, Bryan Kilmister; nearest 2^nd cone, John McKechnie; 3^rd cone, Denys Wright.
