Get into Golf

Adult Introductory Golf Programme

Getting started
The first step to becoming a golfer is to book a place in our ‘Get into Golf’ Programme. Don’t worry about what to wear or bring,  just come along in something comfortable and ideally trainers.  If you don’t have any equipment, don’t worry as this can be provided. If you do have your own clubs you are welcome to bring them along.

Welcome Day
Meet the others who have joined the ‘Get into Golf’ programme.  Each course will have a small group of up to 8 people all new to golf.  To help you ‘feel at home’ you will have a cuppa and tour the fabulous facilities at Waikanae Golf Club.  We’ll get you kitted out with some golf clubs that are available for loan throughout the programme for coaching and practice and we’ll begin learning to play golf with a putting lesson

On your beginner course

Oliver Maxwell, our NZPGA coaching professional, will teach you the basics of the game in a fun and relaxed environment. Over 6 sessions, Oliver will cover the fundamentals, progressing from putting, chipping, pitching, to the full swing, using different clubs and playing lessons covering the simple rules of golf and etiquette. It doesn’t matter how good you are or if you prefer to learn slowly or fast, you can simply take it all at your own pace.

After the ‘Get into Golf’ programme
We will review with you how you feel and what you want to do next. Players often meet like-minded people on beginner courses who then continue together and meet up for social practise sessions. We will organise fun golf games with fellow “Newbies” and “Buddies” to help you ‘Get into Golf’

Introductory Golf Membership
Now that you have learnt the basics of the game, you will want to head out onto the golf course with some friends and play a few holes.  We are including an introductory golf membership to Waikanae Golf Club within the programme.  This gives access to all club facilities, bar, Par Tee cafe, practice areas and the course, until the end of September 2017.  We are also delighted to offer Buddy support, from a club member who will be available, to encourage and support you playing golf and introducing you to other like-minded golfers especially at fun club events.
