Twilight Golf – Opening night: 3rd November 2016

On a sunny, breezy evening, Waikanae’s new Twilight season exploded into life. A very encouraging 48 members and their guests took to the fairways for 9 holes of friendly golf.

For those who wished, this was followed by a fantastic steak and chips or fish and chips with all the salads and trimmings provided by Party Perfect, our very own quality caterers. The meals were so popular that they were on the point of running out of food by the end of the evening. I’m told that next week there will be even more specials.

It was great to see so many of the new members ‘Get Into Golf’ group, some of whom were playing their first round of golf.  By them playing from the 14th tee it meant they could find their way around along with their on course buddies without being pressured by others.

It was great to see so many guests playing too, and there is always space for more. So if you have a friend who you’d like to show your course to, bring them along there’s no green fee, they only pay $5 for the comp.

25 Prizes were awarded, as well as 5 spot prizes for those who didn’t get to visit the prize table

Main Winners

Newbies

  • Cath Keno

Ladies

  • Marjory Royden, 23 stabs,
  • Janet Strand, 22 stabs,
  • Judy Stevenson, 22 stabs.

Men

  • Paul Keno, 23 stabs
  • Hugh Shields, 23 stabs
  • Simon Amos, 20 stabs

The shop competition prizes will be posted on the website and available for collection from the shop at next week’s Twilight

Website Changes

After four years as editor of this website, it is time for me to move onto pastures new.  I would like to thank all of the regular contributors who have sent the weekly results through, details of events, competition rules, posters, open days and so much more and made the content of interest to members both locally and further afield.  Special mention goes to Richard Starke, Cliff Martin, Rae Henderson, Judy Stevenson, Phil Carthew and Andy Provan.

I would also like to add a big, big thank you to Ian Trim who has provided fantastic support, knowledge, expertise far beyond my skills and has been instrumental in developing the website to the excellent standard it is today.
From 21st April 2016, all contributions to the website, should be sent, to Tony Parrett @ tony.parrett1@gmail.com, as Tony is the Board Member responsible for the website and member communication – until he is able to announce arrangements for the website moving forward.
And finally, thank you to everyone who has visited and used the website.
