Today 46 players turned out for this months Convenor’s Choice which was for a Japanese Team stableford event. A random draw mixed up the players. Unfortunately continuing light rain during the day whittled the field down to about 31. It was quite a remarkable result in the circumstances.
The prize for best individual stableford score went to Ed Isaac with 40 points. The top team was made up of Tony Parrett, Allan Chisholm, Don Erskine and Gordon Hall with 99 points. In second place were George Forbes, Oliver Son, Rod Cavaye and Malcolm Catterall with 95 points.

The MWM Winter Challenge (PDF) continued today with the course just slightly better than last week. However there were still large lakes on 5 & 6 so once again we walked from the 4th green to the 7th tee. There were 50 entries. Today’s competition was round 7 Stableford.
Today’s winner was Bryan Kilmister with a massive 44 points. James Woon came second on countback with 40 points. The cut off score for table prizes was once again 33 points.
The Winter Challenge leader Kevin Win finished 4th on 38 points. As a consequence Kevin has done enough to maintain a lead by 5 points from Oliver Son. Denys Wright slips into 3rd spot just 1 point behind Oliver. See linked attachment for a full scoreboard.

Today was the long awaited 2nd day of our 2 day stableford competition originally scheduled for April 11. The course was very wet especially on the front nine. As a result we walked from the 4th green to the 7th tee avoiding 2 huge lakes on 5 & 6 fairways. There were 36 entries.
Today’s winner was Denys Wright on 41 with Peter Cresswell second on 40 points. The cut off score for table prizes was 33 points.
Congratulations to the 2 day stableford winner Doug Stevens on an aggregate of 72 points. Runner up was Michael Hewitt on 71.

Round 6 of the MWM Winter Challenge (PDF) was a Net competition with a field of 49. The weather was incredibly good considering the forecast for the rest of NZ. Greens were in great condition.
Today’s winner was Bob Barton on 69 with George McLellan and Roy South tied for second on net 70. The cut off score for table prizes was net 76. Kevin Win has had his lead in the MWM Winter Challenge chopped back to just 5 points. The new runner up is Denys Wright on 52 points.

Round 5 of the MWM Winter Challenge (PDF) was a Par competition with a field of 50. The weather was cold and windy changing to a great day after golf had finished.
Today’s winner on countback was Graeme Carruthers on +1 with Allan Chisolm second (also on +1 on countback). In fact the par competition was so levelling that there were 6 players on +1 and 6 on 0. The cut off score for table prizes was -3. Kevin Win has consolidated his lead in the MWM Winter Challenge with a massive 57 points followed by Oliver Son on 45.

Results for the 29th June round of the Evergreens played against Kapiti at Trentham.
Waikanae recorded a win of 9 1/2 points to Kapiti’s 5 1/2 points.
This now places us second with 42 points behind Wainuiomata on 46 points.
The last game of the “Round Robin” will be played on September 28th at Ohariu Valley.

The Waikanae 9 Women played their final round of interclub on 29/6/2017 (hosted by Waikanae) and finished 4th in the competition. The winners were Kapiti, followed by Paraparaumu and in 3 way tie for third were Pauatahunui, Otaki, Boulcott Farm/Mirimar.
The Women’s Committee have, with the approval of the members, dispensed with our divisional prize system and now recognise the best scores on the day, a much fairer system. The number of prizes awarded will depend on the number of players in the field on any given day.

53 MWM turned up to park on the grass and hope that the imminent frost didn’t arrive. Luckily there was no frost but it remained quite cold all day. The competition was Americas Cup Foursomes with a random draw from Dotgolf. Unfortunately the card printing facility did not yield to our efforts so it was back to old time scoring and results production.
Today’s winners were John Murphy & Andy Provan with a net score of 69. Close behind were Miles Davidson & Oliver Son on net 70. The cut off score for table prizes was 77 net.
