Course Report – August 2009

WEATHER

  • There has been 47mm of rain this month, 22mm in one night, which was much needed.

COMPLETED WORK

  • Removed Bunkers liners from 4,5,6,9 -  this now completes liner removal.
  • The bunker next to the 1st green has been filled in, and sown down.
  • The four Pohutukawa trees that were inhibiting the 12th blue tee have been relocated to the 1st fairway.
  • A drain box has been installed in the bowl next to the 7th green to relieve it from all the water run off.
  • The 13th white tee has had the blackberry and pig fern chopped out and cleaned up.

COURSE GROOMING

  • The greens were cut every other day, but rolled everyday.
  • Fairways were cut weekly.
  • Tees were cut weekly and top dressed and seeded once this month.
  • Rough was cut twice this month.
  • The garden by the 1st tee was weeded.

GREENS

  • Sprayed with Dithan 20kg per/hec
  • Digester 3ltrs per/hec
  • Ammonium Sulphate 12.5 kg/per/hec
  • Verti-cut to remove dead matter and stand the leaf blades upright.

MACHINERY

  • The 3150 and 3100 greens mowers plus TR3 tees mowers have been back lapped and heights reset.
  • The Jacobson TR3 tees mower blew a valve bank seal, fortunately this is still under warranty and has been fixed with no cost to the Club.
  • A new throttle and cable has been fitted to the greens iron.
  • The 4320 tractor was given an oil change and air cleaner.

NEXT MONTH AGENDA

  • Spray around trees and paths (weather dependent).
  • Top up some bunkers with dune sand now that the liners have been removed.
  • Grass seed all areas that have been weedeated with fescue.
  • Finish putting bark mulch around the 14th tee garden.
  • Cut around all sprinklers and run an irrigation check.
  • Core greens and dress with dune sand (seed and fertilize)
  • Tumble core fairways.
