Course Report – Oct 11

WEATHER 

 There has been 170mm of rain this month, compared to 114mm for the same period last year.

COMPLETED WORK

  •  Two more Pine trees were cut down on the 11th for firewood, leaving four more to be felled.
  • Turf was purchased and laid on the 12th blue tee completing this job, thanks to the Federated Farmers donation.
  • The irrigation failure on the 13th fairway was fixed after replacing a six-station decoder.
  • The fourth tee had the coil and decoder replaced.
  • The branches by the 17th tee that were hanging in the river had to be removed, at the request from the Council.

 COURSE GROOM

  •  Fairways were cut weekly.
  • Tees were cut Thursdays and tee pads were cut around.
  • Surrounds were cut weekly with the fairway mower.
  • Rough was cut twice this month.
  • The bunkers were raked every Friday.
  • The greens were cut every day, except for Saturdays.
  • Hazard lines have been cut and sprayed this month. 
  • New holes on greens were cut Tuesdays and Fridays.
  • Rubbish bins were emptied every Monday and Friday.
  • Tee banks were fly mowed and weedeated around twice this month.

 GREENS

  •  The greens were sprayed with ETHREL to stop the Poa annua from seeding.

MACHINERY

  • The Land Pride Rough Mower had four-wheel bearings and two spindle bearings replaced.
  • The 5510 Toro fairway mower was fitted with new base plates, and the bearings replaced on the back rollers of each unit.
  • The steering knuckle was repaired on the 5510.
  • The 3150 greens mower had a gasket replaced, which involved taking the motor out and splitting it to replace the fractured one.
  • The 4320 John Deer Tractor had the water pump replaced.

 NEXT MONTH AGENDA

  •  Spray tee banks and grass seed (depending on weather)
  • Spot spray cap daisy.
  • Bunkers:   some will be topped up with sand.
  • Sand top-dress greens.
  • Irrigation checks to be carried out.
  • Burn branches and trimmings in the dumpsite.
  • Spray the fairways, surrounds, tees, and rough for weeds.
  • Install irrigation on the ladies fifth tee.
